The Partnerships initiative is designed to encourage a cooperative approach towards developing health and safety standards and measurements across industry in Alberta.
As a Certifying Partner for the forest industry in Alberta, the Alberta Forest Products Association acts as a resource for its members and their contractors, providing health and safety training, certifying auditors, doing quality assurance, and providing ongoing guidance and general resources for those pursuing a Certificate of Recognition.
A complete list of C of R holders from around the province is available from the Partnerships web site. Note that this list is maintained by Alberta Human Resources & Employment, and may not be up to date. Contact Carola von Sass (780-452-2841 x237) to check on the status of a specific employer, if you have any questions.
Partners in Injury Reduction (PIR)
It is highly recommended that employers interested in pursuing a Certificate of Recognition begin by registering for the PIR program. Registration does not commit the employer to any action, but if a C of R is obtained, PIR-registered employers are eligible for WCB rebates of 10% in the first year, and from 5 to 20 per cent each subsequent year. Rebate amounts are calculated based on COR status, industry leadership, and improved performance.
WCB has also recently changed its policy to ensure that new COR holders will receive their rebates in the year the COR is achieved.
