The Alberta Forest Products Association offers quality, ongoing training opportunities in the area of lumber grading. The AFPA provides programs designed to train those who want to learn how to grade lumber under National Lumber Grades Authority (NLGA) rules for Canadian lumber.
Lumber graders are skilled employees at the mill sites who inspect and grade each piece of lumber produced. They must pay attention not only to the specific characteristics of lumber grading, but also to safety, efficiency, and quality. Their work is an important step in the production of lumber products in Alberta.
AFPA training in lumber grading includes traditional classroom instruction and training materials available online or in CD-ROM format.
